SciFi and Fantasy Art A Level Examination Project : Faeries (study 1) by Natalie Adams

This, as well as 'Study 2', was a watercolour study done for my A Level Fine Art Examination earlier this year. We were given a series of titles to choose from , and i chose 'Magical and Fantastical Creatures', focussingmainly on Faeries. My inspiration was mainly Jessica Galbreth, and i used a photo reference taken by my sister, or myself, to get the pose right. Effectively, it si a self-portrait of me and a Faery/Elf...okay, those of you who a re smart here will notice that this Faery doesn't actually have any wings...but i did not actually notice the lack of wings until i had finished it, and by then it was too late to add thm. So trust me here, she is meant to be a Faery!!! (although she could also be an Elf, of course!)

I had to draw it over four sheets of A4 paper, because i did not have any papre large enough to fit it on, so sorry about some of the seams. I left this drawing 'in situe', as it were - on the board - becasuse i felt it was imoprtsant to leave the drawing in context with the project - around the edges you can see some of my further drawings placed on the A1 presentation board, as well as some glimpses of Jessica Galbreth's works that i included as part of the compulsory artist research.

hope you like this one!

Wow, this is beautiful! I really like the colour you chose for the top, I think that shade of blue is my favourite colour 2. The pose is also very nice, you make a fine model! I’d like to see your whole project in real life, it must look great 12.

:-) Natalie Adams replies: "thank you so much! 2 haha - thanks for the compliment 12

and thanks - what i did for it was to print the photo out on A4 pieces of paper in black and white, stick them together, then trace over the basic outline. I just made the rest up, using some of JG’s pieces to get the eyes right and stuff. thanks again tashi! 1"
