This was done for my AS Level Art project last year, and took about 10 days to complete - the project title ws Natural and Organic Structures, so it basically involed flowers, fruit, veg etc........i wanted to do something different.....

...and this is what happened.....

HEY, it's got flowers ON it, right?!

I just felt a phoenix would be more fun - hope you like it too!!!!

The colours are simply magnificent in this one, (I know, I say that every time, but it’s not my fault you’re good at that 12 ) they truly look like fire, or perhaps even more like lava. The composition is perfectly balanced, it was a good idea to simply reverse the bird’s colour pattern to use as a background, I think any other solution would have taken away too much of its brightness. The roses are very well done, I especially like the subtle white highlights you used on them, the fact they all look very different, which makes them more realistic and that they return in the feathers on the phoenix’s head. The patterns in the tail feathers are a wonderful detail as well. It was definitely worth those ten days!!! 1

:-) Natalie Adams replies: "thank you so much, i always look forward to recieving comments from you - they give me something constructive to take away and improve with, so thanx!
and thanx so much for the lovely words - yeah, i think it was worth it too 12"

Oh, the colours are gorgeous. Love drawing phoenixes (phoenixi? What on earth is the plural of Phoenix!?)

:-) Natalie Adams replies: "um, ya know, i actually haven’t a clue!?! 16
Maybe, like sheep and fish, it;s just Phoenix. Like a flock of Phoenix, or even something cool (like a Murder of Crows, how cool is that?!) like a raze of Phoenix, to go along with the whole fire idea."

You did a beautiful job of this. The colours and the sweeping lines make the painting feel alive.

:-) Natalie Adams replies: "thank you! 2"

I think this is one of the most beautiful phoenix pictures i`ve ever seen! It`s brilliant!

:-) Natalie Adams replies: "thank you so much - huge compliment, even if it is a little over-stated. i , personally, have seen MUCH better ones than this one around elfwood, but thank you so much for the support 12 i really do appriciate it!"

Never seen roses coupled with a phoenix before... I think I like it.

:-) Natalie Adams replies: "thankyou. i had to do SOMETHING to connect the piece to flowers - otherwise it would have been rejected by the examiners! 14"

Fantastic. A novel take on a classically appealing mythological creature. I don’t believe I’ve ever seen a phoenix combined with roses before.

:-) Natalie Adams replies: "thank you! i am sure there must be one somewhere! 2 but thanks so much!"

This can’t be topped because just the tail alone is wonderful. This would be great as a poster to sell to people like me. This would look good in a orange room, a room with china products or just a Mod room and this would even make a beautiful pillow.

:-) Natalie Adams replies: "haha thank you SO much *hugs* i have considered making it into a print, card and posters. but never really got round to it i suppose. nice to know i have support from the outside! 2 Pillow? really? cool. that never crossed my mind, but now you mention it, i think you could be onto something...."
