From the ashes a fire shall be woken

A light from the shadows shall spring - JRR Tolkien, written for LOTR

~~~
This was originally done for a GCSE Art project in school a while ago now, with the title of Multicultural Art - this one was a final piece idea inspired by Asian Art - there are many links to this culture, including the traditional jewellery, and Henna tattooing on the arms, stomach and thigh - the designs are of my own making. Later, i looked back on it and thought it looked like a fire spirit, then my sister suggested it looked more like a Phoenix Spirit, and so i messed about with it in photoshop and, here it is - Phoenix Rising from the ashes, the very symbol of Re-birth.
...although, i can't help but think she looks more like some poor thing being burnt at the stake......
Fantastic pic. Great texture. I like the really warm colours. Good flame-likeness with the hair.
Her face and hair are so great, and good fire! It doesn’t look like a stake burning!
it looks sooooo hot there 17 and, no. It doesn’t look like a burnt thing, but if you want to make a little ’feeling’ of fire, I think that’s nice to add some fire in the skin(oh, I’m really bad at explaining things) If you know what I mean 1
:-) Natalie Adams replies: "no, i see what you mean perfectly! I agree, maybe i will do that sometime. Thanx"
Gah! Can’t believe I nearly missed this one!! This is amazing Nat, you really captured the essence of the phoenix rising again, and the markings just add another layer of link to the original culture the phoenix came from (Eastern). All in all, great work! xx
